What is Soma® RPM?
The Rapid Prompting Method (RPM) was developed by Soma Mukhopadhyay, whose pioneering work has transformed the lives of countless nonspeaking and minimally speaking individuals around the world. RPM is built on the belief that every learner is capable of thinking, learning, and communicating when provided with meaningful opportunities and age-respectful instruction.
DESIRPM is inspired by these principles and seeks to create resources that encourage learning, communication, critical thinking, and self-expression.
Our Philosophy
At DESIRPM, we believe that every individual has the right to learn, communicate, and be heard. Our resources are designed to encourage meaningful learning, critical thinking, and self-expression while respecting the unique strengths and perspectives of every learner. We believe there is no single right or wrong way to communicate—every person's voice deserves to be valued, whether expressed through speech, writing, typing, AAC, or other forms of communication.
Founded by Prashanthi Vankamamidi, RPM Level 2 Provider, and inspired by the journey of her son, Sanjith, DESIRPM is guided by a simple belief: every voice matters.
As Sanjith says, “Everyone deserves a chance to be heard, to be respected, and to give an opinion on the way they want to enjoy their life. Same with me and every other non-speaker.”
